CS373 Spring 2022: Varun Nayak
What did you do this past week?
This past week I worked on graphics projects that were due but we were given two extensions one for Wednesday and another for Friday. We took a slip day and submitted it Saturday. There were a lot of bugs in our code but we realized they were trivial after spending multiple time slots trying to debug. Additionally, my SWE group discussed how we wer going about the final phase of the project and assigned tasks for each person.
What’s in your way?
I currently don’t have much in my way but things will start picking up after the end of next week so it is better that I stay ahead. I hope to continously work on what is pending and avoid getting stressed out at the last minute
What will you do next week?
Next week I will put in a lot of time towards the last phase of the SWE project. I will work on the slide deck that our group will use to present. I will also be in and out of meetings for my internship this summer. I am excited to get acquainted with my team members and colleagues and hope to gain a lot from the experience.
What did you think of Paper 13. What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?
I thought it was quite different than the papers we were used to reading. This was due to the fact that most of our previous papers covered topics on OOP and classes. I think it is important for people to follow the rules of the workplace and make sure their actions are politically correct.
What was your experience of subqueries and refactoring?
I was learning a lot of these concepts for the first time and will need to practice them more in order to get a firm grip. After all, programming is not a spectator sport.
What made you happy this week?
I was happy this week because I went to the Domain and got to try a new restaurant. Although the restaurant food was mediocre at best, I felt that the bad experience I had was good in that I shared it with my friends and we could all have a laugh about it after.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is Lime! Lime is a great way to travel around Austin and is great to explore Austin without walking. Remember to be careful and not fall off since it can also be very dangerous.
