CS373 Spring 2022: Varun Nayak
What did you do this past week?
This past week I worked on a graphics project that involved Ray Tracing. I spent around 36 hours total this week in the GDC basement debugging and writing working implemenations. I am afraid that this will go full throttle as the semester progresses. I do think projects are less stressful than exams.
What’s in your way?
We struggled to come up with an effective idea. However, after enough hours of brainstorming we were able to come up with an idea that we felt was unique and would be creative enough to be something that we could enjoy and complete.
What will you do next week?
I plan to finish my graphics project, my quest due on Friday, my acceleration structures worksheet and study for my intro to human sexuality. I have been fairly inconsistent this week and I plan to get back in the groove of things. I was happy with the progress I made last week and hope to perform this while also doing the hobbies I enjoy.
What did you think of Paper #5: Single Responsibility Principle?
I thought it was very enthralling and gave me unique insight on the topics which it discussed. I think it will be better to reread the paper so I am able to perform better on the projects with my team and gain something out of it.
What was your experience of types and recursion?
I have used these in Data Structures but maybe not to the extent required on the HackerRanks I may need to brush up on these skills in order to succeed effectively. I think these skills are very useful in order to ace the technical interviews. I think it is definitely tough when switching between languages because of the nuances of each.
What made you happy this week?
I went to an event with my friend. It was a great time and I feel like it was the only fun I had in this busy week. I also went to Trader Joe’s this week and purchased some Tiramisu Ice Cream which I think is really top notch.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My tip of the week is to check out Nelk on YouTube. They have many funny pranks and I feel that as busy CS students it is fun escapism and will lead to many laughs when you need a study or coding break,
